I love poetry, but I think it often comes out bland and tacky. I don’t like the rhyming scheme so much, but sometimes it adds to a poem. I try it here, feeling only a fraction creative this morning. I’ll try for another more heartfelt rendition soon.
I’ve never written a Jhana poem before, but I was inspired to see what I could come up with. I’ve often thought about getting a Jhana tattoo, but I can’t for the life of me come up with anything visual that could represent it. I think en empty space tattoo would be most appropriate, so I have no tattoos.
Jhana Is
Jhana is nothing, vast and empty space
Jhana is peace, a tranquil mind’s face
Jhana is boundless, an endless sky without hue
Jhana is infinitely quiet, where thoughts are few
Jhana is awareness, pure and bright
Jhana is void, the end of sight
Jhana is serenity, beyond the form of me
Jhana is infinity, boundless as the sea
Jhana is consciousness, infinite and clear
Jhana is no-thingness, dissolving all fear
Jhana is without movement, still
Jhana is vastness, an empty, silent thrill
Jhana is freedom, from the self, the I
Jhana is non-dual, neither low nor high
Jhana is seamless, seemless, and pure
Jhana is choiceless, aware, and sure
Jhana is nature, of you, no trace
Jhana is nothing, vast and empty space
